A Leader-Follower Game Theoretic Approach to Arrest Cascading Failure in Smart Grid

The Smart Grid System (SGS) is a joint network comprising the power and communication network. In this paper, underlying intra-and-interdependencies between entities for given SGS captured using dependency model called Modified Implicative Interdependency Model (MIIM) [1]. Given an integer K, K-contingency list problem gives of K-most critical entities, failure which maximizes damage at current time. being NP complete [2] owing to higher running time Integer Linear Programming (ILP) based solution [3], much faster heuristic generate event driven self-updating [4] also in paper. Based on contingency lists obtained from both solutions, paper proposes adaptive entity hardening technique leader-follower game theoretic approach that arrests cascading after initial entities. validation work done by comparing types different K values MIIM smart grid IEEE 14-Bus system with simulating co-simulation formed MATPOWER Java Network Simulator (JNS). indicate predicted ILP are more realistic compared another (IIM) [2]. Advantage shown when larger 118-Bus considered. Finally, it how helps improving performance.
